Please read Gospel Luke 19:28-40

It describes Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. Palms are blessed items that remind us that we proclaim Jesus as our King. Some families make small crosses out of their palms to remind them that Jesus died on the cross. Often they are placed behind a picture of Jesus or behind a crucifix.

Dialogue: What will you do with your palm branch? Activity: As a family read the Passion account in St. Luke’s Gospel (22:14-to 23:56). Take turns reading a portion each day. Make a plan to participate in the Holy Week Liturgies.

My brothers and sisters, as we gather in praise of God on the occasion of the unveiling of this beautiful new image of Pope St. John XXIII for public veneration, we must be properly disposed and have a clear appreciation of the meaning of this celebration.
