POPE JOHN XXIII PARISH

We parishioners of Pope Saint John XXIII are a renewed multicultural Catholic faith community of South Tacoma united in proclaiming the Good News of Jesus Christ. We welcome all to come to join us by living our faith as a Eucharist–centered Catholic family in worship and service to all God’s people.


Pope St. John XXIII Parish includes:

  • The primary worship site - Pope St. John XXIII Parish located at 7025 S Park Ave, Tacoma WA 98408. Mass schedule will remain the same as:
  • English weekday Mass: Mon - Fri at 8am
  • Viet weekday Mass: Tue & Thu at 7pm
  • English weekend Mass: Saturday at 4:30pm & Sunday at 9:45am
  • Viet weekend Mass: Sundays at 7:45am & 4pm

     
  • St. John of the Woods Mission Church located at 9903 24th Ave E, Tacoma WA 98445. The mass schedule will be:
  • Saturday evening schedule remains the same as before, Confession at 5pm and MASS at 6pm
  • Sunday morning schedule: Mass at 8am and 11:30am 

     
  • South Tacoma Way Chapel located at 3314 S 58th St, Tacoma WA 98409. Mass schedule will be
  • Saturdays at 9:00 am
  • Sundays at 9:30 am
     
  • St. Rita facilities located at 1403 S Ainsworth Ave, Tacoma, WA 98405

Annual Catholic Appeal 2022

Thank you for your response to the Annual Catholic Appeal this year.  Please pray and make a pledge today. Together we can be Christ to others.

All gifts received over our goal will be returned to the parish for our parish project which is new carpeting for the Educational Resource Center.  Please prayerfully consider how you can participate in helping our parish be a light to others.

Volunteers Needed For Church Decoration

This is an invitation to anyone interested in the decorating of the church. There are many varied possibilities to consider and with that varying time commitments. Weekly flower arrangements, special liturgical and devotional events and Holidays especially Christmas and Easter. If you like to work alone there is a time for that, if you like to work in small groups there is a way for that as well.



I am stepping down from this ministry, and the first weekend in October will be my last weekend arranging flowers. If interested or have questions please call Joan O’Shea 253-531-5159





Altar Server Sign Up

We invite adults and youth who like to become Alter Server to sign up. Please sign up and indicate the Mass time that would be convenient for you. 

Sign up form can be found at the vestibule of the church, please fill out the Sign-up form and place it in the Server’s Sign-up box.

Ground Maintenance Sharing Program


Do you enjoy working in the garden? Then we have a great opportunity for you!
The idea is that each parishioner or family will take care of one small area of the church grounds (such as weeding, trimming and keeping the area clean).

Coffee Hour
Join us for Coffee Hour after the Sunday 8am & 11:30am Masses.
Many hands are needed to offer Coffee Hour on an ongoing basis every Sunday. If you are interested in making this event continue call 253-922-6569 for more information. Thank you

Regional News


PATRIOTIC ROSARY & MASS AT ST. ANN


St. Ann Church is hosting a Patriotic Rosary and Mass to pray for our country this coming Thursday, June 30th. The Rosary starts at 6:00 pm and the Mass follows at 7:00 pm. All are invited. 

The Patriotic Rosary is prayed for every state in our country and for all of our legislative offices. Military and Veterans are encouraged to wear uniforms

THE NEW PARISH

The New Parish plans to build a new school on St Ann ground soon. We are currently in the planning phase and need help on the following subjects: Survey, Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Structural and Geotechnical designs. FOR SALE

We have organic, pure pressed and canned apple juice, apple sauce (nothing added), and preserved pears and pear butter for sale in our office. There are also greengage plum jelly and a limited selection of other organic jellies.
