Saint Rita Church of PSJXXIII Parish Family

DearFriends,

A BIG thank you to our loyal Saturday Prayer Group for answering the call to help clean our church and hall yesterday: Helen Ames, Dan Brands, Jene Eakin, Kelly Forsberg, Carmen Gonzalez,Francie Jordan, Michael McCreary, Susan McCreary, Tom Molzan and David Viafore.  All is spic and span and was done in about 90 miutes by our expert volunteers. The best part was the gourmet luncheon Chef David Viafore treated us to when our job was done!  We had fun working together and then enjoyed a special meal (no sandwiches for this group) and fellowship afterwards.

Catherine Tran, daughter of Ly and Tien Tran, sent me a beautiful reflection of her years at St. Rita as a child and young adult. She narrates her family's warm welcome and inclusion by Fr. Sacco and the St. Rita parishioners when the many Vietnamese families arrived from Vietnam.  She has put in words what so many feel about St. Rita's importance in the Hilltop of Tacoma and family feel of our church community.  It will be published in the Grit City Magazine and I am attaching a copy she is willing to share with all of us.  You will LOVE her remembrances.

REMINDER: We do celebrate funerals at St. Rita. Fr. Tuan is very accommodating and dates depend on pastoral availability. We also rent the church hall for special occasions, religious or celebratory. We recently had a beautiful First Communion celebration held in the hall. It's a nice size for memorials celebrations, dinners, family reunions, meetings, retreats, etc. Volunteers are welcome to help us with receptions. Contact me for information.

Thanks to those of you who have sent donation checks for our church. With no regular weekend Masses, our contributions are not sufficient to pay our bills each month.  Donate to St.Rita with a monthly or occasional contribution. Bring to Saturday prayer services or take/mail directly to PSJXXIII and mark clearly for St. Rita's upkeep. Also, consider renting the church hall for family parties, reunions, etc. There is a rental fee.

We need parishioners to join our facility team.  Volunteering as part of the facility team is a beautiful way to serve God and your parish community. By helping care for the church, you contribute to maintaining a sacred space where we gather to worship, pray, and seek comfort. Your efforts, no matter how small, help create a welcoming and peaceful environment for others to encounter God. It's a humble and rewarding form of stewardship that allows you to give back to the church that nourishes your faith, while also strengthening bonds with fellow parishioners as you work together for a common purpose.
