Stewardship of Treasure Renewal 2023

“For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.” (Matthew 6:21). Stewardship is recognizing that everything we have is a gift from God and we’re called to share these gifts with others out of gratitude. It starts in our church. Your financial pledge to St. John of the Woods supports our church, our ministries, and the mission of Jesus Christ here on earth.

This weekend we are asking everyone to prayerfully reflect on how we are called to continue to sustain our parish and the ministries that support the mission of Jesus Christ. We ask that all our parishioners partake of that joy and make pledge for the 2023 Calendar year. Your pledge allows the parish to plan operating budget for providing essential services and ministries.

The Pledge cards have been mailed to your houses, they are also available in the pews and on website. You have the option of returning the Stewardship of Treasure Commitment Card by mail, collection basket, or by pledging online at Sacrificial Giving Renewal Form 

We pray that as good stewards, we make sure that we and our gifts are ready to serve when God calls us. Thank you for your generosity

Extraordinary EM Training

On Sunday October 30th at 10:30am between the Masses in the Church, we are having a training for Extraordinary EMs who serve the homebound and nursing homes. Fr. Bible Study 

Last Chance to Register

Follow me “Meeting Jesus in the gospel of John.” Bible Study is coming back in person. A new 8 Week Bible Study on Tuesdays from 1pm to 3pm in the Religious Education Center, beginning October 25th. Cost $30.

Meditation / Memory Garden

Behind the rectory & connected to the large cross is an area known as the “Meditation/Memory Garden”. This garden belongs to St. JOHN  OF THE WOODS parishioners. We are asking for a rock to be placed with your family name (Living Or Deceased) in the blank space behind the cross in the garden. 

No statues please! This is for all the families that have supported and grown with SJOW over the years. (We apologize for the confusion this was our original idea and was not presented correctly by the office)

Thanksgiving Basket

We no longer supporting SVDP at Pope St. John 23. So if you gave to SVDP in the past please we ask that you support Ministries to the Poor out of South Tacoma Chapel. This group is moving to PSJ23 very soon. As a joint effort we are collecting non-perishable food items to make up 70 baskets for those in need for this Thanksgiving.

Items needed for donations are: can sweet potatoes, instant mash potatoes, canned cranberries, small marshmallows, stove top stuffing, olives, cake mix, cake frosting, canned or gravy in a jar, money or gift cards for turkey and other food. We will be collecting until Sunday November 16th for Thanksgiving foods.

Please bring your donations to church with you and place them in the food box at the entrance of the Church. Let’s make Thanksgiving great for some families. Your generosity is appreciated. Thank you

All Saints & All Souls Mass

Tuesday, Nov 1 & Wednesday, Nov 2

We will be having an All Saints Day Mass at 9:30am on Tuesday November 1st, as well as an All Souls Day Mass at 9:30am on Wednesday November 2nd here at St John of the Woods. All are welcome

Veneration of St. Sharbel's Relics

Thursday, Nov 3rd, 2022 at Pope St. John XXIII Parish 

• 7:00am: Individual veneration of relics
• 7:30am: Rosary
• 8am: Mass | 8:30am: Benediction and talk about St. Sharbel. Followed by Adoration, Anointing of the Sick and Individual veneration
